This time of year I try to reflect on how lucky I am as a mother, wife and small business owner and remember those who are less fortunate. I once heard someone say, “Give until it hurts and then give some more” and that has stuck with me.

For as long as I can remember, our family has had a holiday tradition of filling boxes for children in other countries through Operation Christmas Child. Each year, our family loads up shoe boxes with special treasures for children across the globe. We say a special prayer and send the boxes on their way. It’s been a wonderful way to teach our children, who are now young adults, to pay it forward and be grateful for all we have and help others in need.

As you go about the next few weeks- and fight the Woodruff Road traffic- be extra kind to those around you: hold a door, give a compliment, offer a warm smile; simple gestures can go a long way this time of year.

Happy holidays to each and every one of you and blessings for the New Year ahead.

Cheers!
