The 20-year old organization, Friends of the Reedy River, focuses on educating the community on the importance of a healthy river ecosystem, advocating for continued and improved protection for the river and engaging the Upstate community.
With a priority of conserving and restoring land along the Reedy River, the Friends of the Reedy River works to educate audiences in the Upstate from the youngest generation to the oldest by hosting river clean-ups, science fairs, post-graduate research, and restoration projects.
Last year, the Friends of the Reedy River along with 354 volunteers removed 430+ bags of trash, 259+ tires, 4+ dump trucks of large debris and organic matter from the river. See below to see some of the items removed to understand why this organization is such a tremendous asset to our local community.
